Although fish display their colors with almost any food, the intensity of their colors can be enhanced by certain types of food—just as eating carrots can intensify human skin color. Mating or fighting males demonstrate just how vivid fish colors can become. However, JBL does not use inexpensive carotene, but rather natural astaxanthin (also a carotenoid), which is extracted from krill and spirulina algae. Although this is significantly more expensive, it is a natural way to enhance the fish’s beautiful colors.

The composition of JBL PRONOVO COLOR is designed so that it can also be used as a staple food, just like JBL PRONOVO BEL.

The biological species-specific concept for ornamental fish:
In addition to a staple food like JBL PRONOVO BEL or JBL PRONOVO COLOR for community aquariums, the JBL PRONOVO species-specific concept is available for your fish. Within the species-specific concept, you can supplement the diet with food specifically suited to certain fish species or even choose it as a replacement for the main diet. It’s not a problem if, for example, your betta also eats the food meant for your barbs—and vice versa. The only important thing is that you provide the right food for each group of fish. Variety is always a good thing!

In their natural habitats in South America, neon tetras live in very nutrient-poor blackwater biotopes and rely on small, bite-sized plankton. Corydoras, on the other hand, live on the bottom and have a different dietary range. JBL PRONOVO CORYDORAS (Corydoras = the scientific name for the armored catfish genus) therefore contains the appropriate ingredients, such as shrimp and spirulina.
