JBL PRONOVO BEL Main Food: the perfect diet for all omnivorous fish and fish communities
. With a protein-to-fat ratio of 6.3:1, it achieves exactly the right balance that is ideal for most tropical fish species. Higher fat content leads to fatty liver disease in warm-water fish (23–30 °C)! In mixed fish communities, such as those found in most community aquariums, the 15 main ingredients in PRONOVO BEL form a perfect nutritional foundation that can (but does not have to) be supplemented with species-specific food to tailor the diet to individual fish species and make it even more varied. It’s not a problem if, for example, your betta also eats the food meant for your barbs—and vice versa. The only important thing is that you offer the right food for each group of fish. Variety is always a good thing!

It’s really important to choose a food size that matches the mouth size of the fish species. Flakes soften quickly and can be sucked up by almost all fish species. With pellets, it’s different. In this case, the smallest mouth size among the fish you’re keeping should determine the size of the food you choose. The fish size for which the food is suitable is listed on the bottom left of the cans. It’s better to choose food that’s slightly too small than food that’s too large!

On the topic of garlic: Fish, of course, are not familiar with garlic in their natural habitats. However, observations made during JBL expeditions in the South American Pantanal showed that fish spurn the underwater plants and prefer to jump out of the water to eat the seemingly tastier leaves of the bushes and trees along the water’s edge! These contain more flavor than the “wishy-washy” underwater leaves. This is exactly the effect achieved by adding garlic.
