Nature at Home—A Home for Fish and Plants
Fish should feel just as comfortable in the aquarium as they do in nature. When setting up the aquarium or performing partial water changes, the aquarium needs sufficient active bacteria to biologically clean the water and quickly break down pollutants. Bacteria starters contain highly active, beneficial bacteria that break down ammonium/ammonia and nitrite in the water. At the same time, fish waste and other debris are broken down. Advantages of the JBL Bacteria Starter Live bacteria; breakdown of ammonium/ammonia and nitrite by active bacteria; breakdown of fish waste and other debris. 8 complementary bacterial cultures for the breakdown of protein (heterotrophic bacteria), ammonium, and nitrite. Begin gradually introducing fish into newly set-up aquariums immediately after adding JBL Denitrol. There is ongoing debate about whether fish can be introduced just one day after setting up a new aquarium. Microbiologists have found that bacteria in a new aquarium multiply very slowly if there is no water pollution (food for the bacteria). However, if fish are introduced the next day without a bacterial starter, ammonium/ammonia problems will arise because the bacteria initially multiply too slowly and cannot keep up with the accumulation of pollutants. When using JBL Denitrol (15 minutes after adding JBL Biotopol), large quantities of bacteria are introduced immediately. When the first fish are added the next day, these bacteria receive food and begin to multiply. This ensures that sufficient bacteria are present from the start and that neither ammonium/ammonia nor nitrite become a problem.
