Deltec has made it its mission to build protein skimmers with features that no other skimmer offers. Emergency overflow
: Deltec skimmers are known for their exceptionally good skimming performance. The Deltec Skimmer 400i features a newly developed emergency overflow. This prevents the skimmer from “overflowing” when the water level inside the skimmer rises. This can happen, for example, if the feed pump stops working and additional water flows into the sump. However, the water level also rises in the event of problems with the air supply, such as a kink in the silicone hose or foreign objects in the air intake line. This can cause the skimmer to “overflow,” with the water rising so high that it is forced into the foam pot and the skimmer effluent is flushed back into the aquarium. This places extreme stress on the water quality. The emergency overflow system made by Deltec prevents this from happening, thereby protecting the aquarium from contamination.

Emergency Overflow Pipe & Control
Pipe The water level in the skimmer can be read on the emergency overflow pipe. In addition, minimum and maximum markings help ensure optimal water level adjustment. Since the emergency overflow tube can be swapped with the control tube, the user can decide for themselves how the tubes are arranged.

Pump
The Deltec Skimmer 400i is powered by the Deltec DCC 1 pump. This 24V DC pump is controlled via a ten-step controller and can therefore be optimally adjusted to the water level and water load. At level 7—the optimal setting for most aquariums—300 liters of air are produced. The maximum air flow rate is 450 liters per hour.

The Ergonomic Cylindrical Shape
Thanks to its ergonomic cylindrical shape, the Deltec Skimmer 400i achieves excellent skimming results. The skimmer’s shape does not taper toward the top. This allows the small air bubbles to rise unimpeded; they are fully saturated and do not burst until they reach the riser tube of the skimmer bowl. From there, the collected waste water can be drained via a drain hose without having to remove the skimmer bowl.

Cleaning
System A cleaning system is available as an option for the Deltec Skimmer 400i; turning the skimmer pot lid cleans the inner riser tube of deposits. If these deposits are not removed at regular intervals, the skimming performance decreases drastically, as foam bubbles burst prematurely against this layer and thus cannot contribute to water purification.

Hollow-Chamber
Bottom Another innovation of the Deltec Skimmer 400i is the hollow-chamber bottom. This helps to further dampen noise, which is why the already quiet Deltec Skimmer 400i is described as “whisper-quiet.” In addition, the water flows back through the hollow-chamber base. This means the water is discharged from the skimmer at the lowest possible point, preventing virtually any air bubbles from entering the aquarium.

Disassembly, Dimensions & Assembly
The regular cleaning of the pump is made very easy thanks to the skimmer’s quick and simple disassembly. The Deltec Skimmer 400i can be assembled and disassembled without tools. Our tests have shown that the pump can be removed from the skimmer in less than 20 seconds. The dimensions of our skimmer are designed so that you can easily install it in your filter tank. Thanks to the high volume of the cylindrical shape, a small footprint is sufficient. You can operate the Deltec Skimmer 400i at water depths ranging from 15 cm to 25 cm.
