Tropic Marin Salt - Pro Reef

The salt in the Pro Reef version from Tropic Marin is the ideal foundation for your saltwater aquarium. It contains all major and trace elements in natural proportions. The special feature of the Pro Reef version is that it optimizes calcium and magnesium concentrations as well as buffering capacity and pH levels in reef aquariums. The salt is particularly well-suited for use with calcium reactors and mineral supplements.

Tropic Marin® PRO-REEF sea salt is designed for the specific care requirements of a reef aquarium: the optimized concentrations of calcium and magnesium promote coral growth. The adjusted buffering capacity and pH value stabilize natural water parameters, particularly carbonate hardness, even when using calcium reactors. Only by precisely balancing all influencing factors can natural and stable living conditions be created.

Tropic Marin® PRO-REEF is therefore the ideal foundation for keeping fish, corals, and other invertebrates in modern reef aquariums.

Recommended Use

To achieve a salinity of 32–35 ‰ (psu), dissolve 35 ml of PRO-REEF per liter of water in a container with water circulation. The seawater prepared in this way is ready for use as soon as the salt is completely dissolved and the solution is clear. The density of the saltwater solution should be 1.022 to 1.024 at a temperature of 25°C.

When measuring the conductivity of freshly prepared PRO-REEF saltwater, the readings will be approximately 10% too low. We therefore recommend measuring the density with an hydrometer or refractometer. The seawater prepared in this way is ready for use as soon as the salt is completely dissolved. A slight cloudiness in the seawater is normal and indicates that the bioactive substances are taking effect.

After setting up a new aquarium, stable biological conditions suitable for keeping sensitive marine organisms will not be established until several weeks of water circulation and lighting have taken place.
