In NRG #2, the inorganic trace elements are formulated to support the development and promotion of coral coloration, as well as to maximize photosynthetic performance in the zooxanthellae. In addition, physiologically relevant trace metals are provided to support all important biological processes in the aquarium.

Rapid coral growth creates a high demand for trace elements, which NRG #2 can meet very effectively thanks to its higher and more specific concentration of active ingredients. In particular, it also accounts for a more aggressive, experimental lighting environment that emits increased amounts of short-wavelength, near-UV, and violet radiation components. The radiation stress situations that arise under these conditions can be partially compensated for by the corals through the formation of colored, fluorescent chromoproteins. Therefore, NRG #2 focuses on promoting coral coloration and improving photosynthetic performance.

With NRG #2, you dose the trace metals iron, manganese, molybdenum, zinc, vanadium, copper, chromium, and cobalt in a precisely calculated formulation and in a defined ratio to one another.

Concentrate, so it goes a long way. Dosage: 0.25–0.5 mL per 100 L daily. The dose can be increased if necessary.

Purpose and Function of the NRG System
In addition to the SPS system, the SANGOKAI product range offers you a second follow-up system for your well-established SANGOKAI reef aquarium: the NRG (“Energy”) system. It is specifically designed for fluorescent reef aquariums with pure SPS, for SPS/LPS mixed tanks, for pure LPS reef aquariums, or for anemone tanks with Zoanthus, Ricordea, or Rhodactis.

After establishing the BASIS system for at least 6 months, the NRG system provides more specific nutrition for “ripe” coral tissue, as is typical for fluorescent SPS and, above all, large-polyp (LPS) stony corals. This is also associated with the development and enhancement of vibrant coral colors through a high rate of production of colored fluorescent proteins. Intense and even multiple fluorescences, combined with an outstanding polyp appearance, are the main highlights of the NRG System.

Small-polyp (SPS) stony corals also respond very positively to the NRG active ingredients and develop rich colors; however, unlike with the SPS System, these colors are less bright and metallic, but rather vibrant and fluorescent. The NRG System is therefore ideal for all reef aquariums stocked with fluorescent corals.

The NRG System was developed to promote robust coral tissue growth, increase polyp expansion, and foster the development of multiple fluorescence patterns in SPS, LPS, and anemones.

Requirements for the NRG System

As a follow-up system, the NRG System requires that your SANGOKAI reef aquarium has been acclimated to the BASIS System for at least 6 months, is well-stocked with corals, and that the corals are growing vigorously. The same requirements therefore apply as for the SPS System. Both are follow-up systems that replace the BASIS System. With the NRG supplement, you increase the proportion of organic active ingredients that play an important role in coral metabolism. The inorganic trace metal formulation is also more closely tailored to corals and their fluorescent coloration, and further promotes photosynthetic performance in the zooxanthellae.

Of course, the NRG system also contains important organic active ingredients for general aquarium biology, which are primarily aimed at maintaining the health of the microbiome and support the microbes and microorganisms developed in the BASIS system, albeit with a higher proportion of active ingredients specifically selected for corals.

The NRG system ensures optimal coral care even under experimental lighting conditions with a high proportion of short-wavelength light.
