Salifert Profi-Test Si - Silicate

for freshwater and saltwater

The Salifert Profi-Test Si is suitable for determining the silicate content in freshwater and saltwater. Reverse osmosis water, water from a garden pond, and tap water can also be tested with this kit. Silicate is non-toxic and may therefore be present in tap water. However, high silicate levels promote algae growth. Tap water or reverse osmosis water with a silicate content greater than 2 mg/l should therefore no longer be used. In seawater, the silicate content should be below the detection limit of this test.

The test kit includes detailed instructions, an easy-to-read, finely graduated color chart, and a disposable syringe for collecting the water sample. The Salifert Profi-Test Si (Silicate) is sufficient for approximately 60 tests in freshwater and seawater. When measuring, the KH value (carbonate hardness) should be below 20° dKH, which is usually the case.
