Microorganisms are essential for the biological filtration of aquarium water—bacteria gradually convert toxic organic waste products such as nitrite and ammonia into less harmful substances. Oase’s concentrated Kick Filter Start bacteria in tablet form begin working immediately after addition. Concentrated microorganisms activate the substrate and filter. This can shorten the aquarium’s break-in period to about one week—depending on water parameters. Selected trace elements support the development of water-purifying bacteria and help the aquarium get off to a good start. Kick Filter Start is added once to activate the filter in new aquariums or whenever biological filter performance declines.
