Specially formulated to meet the nutritional needs of aquatic and marsh turtles
. Most aquatic and marsh turtles are omnivores. However, turtles have a particular preference for fish, other aquatic animals, and often aquatic plants as well. JBL offers a comprehensive range of species-appropriate turtle food tailored to the specific needs of turtles of different sizes. During the JBL expeditions in South America, aquatic turtles were often observed cracking open and eating snails. Smaller snails were swallowed whole. The snail shells are an important source of minerals for the turtles.

JBL expeditions often visit turtle habitats, whether in deserts or, even more frequently, in tropical wetlands. Observations of their behavior and feeding habits are incorporated into the development of JBL food products. This information, gathered directly from nature, is extremely valuable, as it is otherwise rarely available.
The goal should always be to care for the animals in a species-appropriate manner and, ideally, to breed them to reduce the need for wild-caught specimens. While captive breeding is not strictly necessary for some species—since commercially available specimens come from captive breeding programs or are not at risk of depletion—JBL nevertheless considers it desirable to breed pets in captivity.
