Product Description
JBL PRONOVO PLECO WAFER M
Food wafers with wood content for herbivorous plecos measuring 1–20 cm
- Food wafers for all sucking catfish that feed on plants and algae, such as antenna catfish. The wood content meets the needs of catfish species that require wood to scrape
- Directions: Allow to sink to the bottom of the aquarium. For crepuscular and nocturnal species, feed only after turning off the lights
- Natural raw materials without artificial additives for a diet close to nature and healthy aquarium fish. Tested on JBL research expeditions in the tropics
- Very high acceptance even among picky species thanks to high-quality raw materials such as spinach, spirulina, and shrimp
- Contents: Original sealed, airtight and light-proof, recyclable can with a measuring aid inside the lid (for 100, 250, 1000 ml)
The group of sucking catfish is very diverse in terms of diet: The vast majority of species are herbivorous, feeding on plants and algae. Of these, in turn, many species are also wood-eaters. However, there are also species—such as the zebra pleco or cactus pleco—that do not eat plants but instead feed on microorganisms, insects, and even dead fish. For these species, JBL PRONOVO TAB is the right choice. JBL PRONOVO PLECO was developed for all other plecos and is available in two sizes.
Some catfish species do not come out while the light is still on. If you feed them food tablets at that time, they will disintegrate and are more likely to be eaten by the other fish—if those fish happen to like “green food tablets.” In this case, it’s best to feed JBL PRONOVO PLECO AFTER turning off the lights. The wafers (chips that are thinner than food tablets) do not dissolve as quickly and, during the catfish’s active period, still retain a consistency that requires the sucking catfish to scrape vigorously (important for their teeth—no joke!).
How should you proceed if you’re keeping different bottom-dwelling species in one aquarium?
Fish also have a sense of taste and would refuse food if they don’t like the taste. Furthermore, we do NOT keep any bottom-dwelling species for which it would be problematic if they were to eat a food tablet actually intended for another species (e.g., loaches). Therefore, you can feed both types of tablets (e.g., JBL PRONOVO PLECO for herbivorous plecos and JBL PRONOVO TAB for carnivorous or omnivorous plecos) at the same time. This is actually beneficial for the fish, as it offers them more variety while still ensuring that each group of fish receives a diet appropriate for its species.
