The JBL Bio CO2 system operates entirely without a pressurized cylinder. It uses the natural fermentation process to produce CO2, which is then added to the aquarium. The system is suitable for small aquariums ranging from 10 to 40 liters.

Why CO2

Nutrients for Aquarium Plants
Plants supply the aquarium with vital oxygen for its inhabitants, prevent algae growth, remove pollutants, provide hiding places, and reduce pathogens. The JBL plant fertilization system supplies the plants with CO2—the primary nutrient—through the water. The plants absorb this CO2 and, through photosynthesis with the help of light, convert it into sugar and oxygen.

It makes no difference to the plants where the CO₂ comes from—whether from biological or pressurized bottle systems. They grow significantly faster as soon as a CO₂ system is installed. The choice of system is more a matter of personal preference for the aquarist: whether they prefer disposable bottles, refillable pressurized bottles, or a non-pressurized biological system.
