Product Description
JBL Water Test K Potassium ProAquatest
Rapid Test for Determining Potassium Levels in Freshwater Aquariums
For perfect aquarium plant growth: Determining the optimal potassium level for fertilizer control in freshwater aquariums
Rapid test: Fill the cuvette with sample water, add the reagents, pour the cloudy sample water into the special glass cuvette until the cross below is no longer visible, then read the volume added. The value corresponds to the potassium content in mg/l
Often, a potassium level that is too low leads to stunted plant growth, even though all other factors—such as CO₂, iron, and light—are present. You can increase the potassium level using fertilizers such as JBL Ferropol or JBL ProScape K Macroelements
Package Contents
: 1 potassium test kit for approx. 25 measurements, including 2 reagents, a special glass cuvette, a syringe, a measuring spoon, and a color chart. Refill reagents are available separately
Yield: Enough
for 25 tests
Recommended potassium levels
Freshwater aquarium (community tank): 10–30 mg/l
Malawi and Lake Tanganyika aquariums: 10–30 mg/l
Planted aquariums with few fish (aquascaping): 10–30 mg/l
General Information on Aquarium Water Parameters
A healthy aquarium with conditions
close to nature The correct water parameters in an aquarium depend on the fish population and the plants present. Even if the water looks clear, it may still be contaminated. Poor water parameters can lead to diseases or algae growth in the aquarium. For a healthy aquarium with conditions close to nature, it is important to regularly monitor and adjust the water parameters.
JBL offers water tests for every type of analysis, in the form of rapid tests or color-change tests. These tests determine a specific parameter or multiple parameters simultaneously. With these water tests, algae problems can be detected, and negative levels of nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium, etc., can be identified.
Why test?
Potassium is one of the macronutrients that freshwater plants absorb very quickly and effectively within a few hours and temporarily store. Growing plants have a higher demand for potassium compared to other elements. Therefore, despite regular fertilization of the aquarium water, potassium levels can drop to a minimum, causing plant growth to stagnate. In tap water, potassium is usually a deficient element compared to natural biotopes, especially in relation to calcium and magnesium concentrations.
