Calcium Liquid

Provides all invertebrates with essential calcium. Particularly promotes the growth of stony corals, Tridacna clams, calcareous tube worms, and calcareous algae. Enriched with Sr, Mn, B, Ba, and other trace elements. Suitable for dosing pumps. Contains 100,000 mg Ca.
The main elements—calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and hydrogen carbonate (HCO₃)—have a decisive influence on water stability (pH, alkalinity/carbonate hardness) in reef aquariums. When present in the correct proportions, calcium is the most important building block of the calcareous skeletons (aragonite) of all reef-building corals. Calcium Liquid supplies calcium and trace elements in a form that is biologically more readily available, thereby supporting healthy coral growth. In addition to stony corals, soft corals, leather corals, clams, tubeworms, and algae also require a sufficient calcium concentration for their growth. The additional trace elements iron and manganese promote the formation of the important symbiotic algae (zooxanthellae), which play a key role in the calcification (skeleton formation) of corals. Calcification proceeds according to the following equation: Ca2+ + HCO3- → Ca(HCO3)2 → CaCO3 + H2CO3

Dosage:
10 ml increases the calcium content by 10 mg per 100 l. The calcium content should be between 380 mg/l and 420 mg/l. Suitable for dosing pumps. 

Along with alkalinity, calcium
is one of the most important parameters in a saltwater aquarium and is found at a concentration of approximately 390 mg/L in natural seawater. The skeletons of corals (SPS, LPS), clams (e.g., Tridacna), algae, and many invertebrates (e.g., calcareous tube worms) are largely composed of calcium carbonates. Due to precipitation processes and the fact that calcium and magnesium are removed from the aquarium as they are incorporated into the skeletons of various corals, the concentrations and ratios of these trace elements to one another change in the saltwater aquarium. Therefore, supplying the reef aquarium with minerals—especially the regular replenishment of calcium and magnesium salts as well as hydrogen carbonate—plays a crucial role. The regular addition of calcium supports healthy coral growth. Each aquarium has its own specific requirements for calcium, magnesium, and hydrogen carbonate, depending on the number of organisms present. Dosage should always be adjusted to match this consumption. The optimal calcium level in a saltwater aquarium is between 380 and 400 mg/l.
