After all, choosing the right gravel is essential for the successful operation of an aquarium. The various grain sizes of Dupla Ground nature fulfill different functions in the aquarium, contributing to healthy plant growth and a natural appearance while promoting the natural behavior of your fish. The substrate has many functions. It must provide plants with a suitable substrate in which they can take root securely and find sufficient support. Furthermore, it must have the correct grain size to transport essential nutrients to the plant roots. A combination of Depot Mix active and Dupla Ground nature creates the best conditions for vigorous and healthy plant growth.
The use of a bottom heater (e.g., Dupla Thermik Set) also requires that the gravel used has the correct grain size, which allows for good heat and water circulation.
But the right substrate isn’t just important for plants. With the coarser varieties of Dupla Ground nature, you can create natural territorial boundaries for the fish in your aquarium and give it a more natural look. Also ideal for aquascaping or decorative purposes in all aquariums, as well as terrariums and paludariums.

Tip

To determine the correct amount of substrate, calculate the aquarium’s length (cm) × width (cm) ÷ 140. The result is the amount of substrate needed for
a 5 cm-thick layer.
Example: Length 100 cm × Width 40 cm ÷ 140 = 28.6 kg

Application

Rinse Dupla Ground Nature with cold tap water to remove any loose particles. A layer thickness of 5–8 cm above the substrate, depending on the planting, has proven to be optimal.
