Reef Zlements Phos+

Phosphorus is an extremely important element for microfauna and coral nutrition. When present in sufficient quantities, it promotes “biological filtration” as well as improved coloration and health in corals.
 Sufficient
phosphorus is required for bacteria and other microscopic organisms to assimilate carbon and nitrogen.
With the increased efficiency of filtration systems, aquariums with low and extremely low nutrient levels are becoming increasingly common. These systems are often deficient in phosphorus. If a system is nutrient-poor, this means that “biological filtration” is not as efficient as it should be, and that nutrients such as NO3 can build up and
become harmful unless other forms of filtration are used.
 
Reef Zlements Phos+ supports the growth and reproduction of microorganisms and improves biological filtration by enabling microscopic plankton and bacteria to consume carbon and nitrogen. These bacteria can then be removed via mechanical filtration or used as food by other organisms in our aquariums, such as sponges, corals, clams, tunicates, etc.
 
Reef Zlements Phos+ is a natural source of PO4 that can be added to the aquarium in a controlled manner to achieve ideal PO4 levels. We recommend using Reef Zlements Phos+ to achieve PO4 levels of approximately 0.04 mg/l.

Before dosing Reef Zlements Phos+, we recommend using reliable and precise phosphate test kits to determine the phosphate content in the aquarium.

1 ml of Reef Zlements Phos+ increases the PO4 level in 100 l of aquarium water by ~0.01 ppm.
 
Once the phosphate levels have been determined, we recommend increasing PO4 by only 0.01–0.02 ppm per day by dosing the required amount and waiting 24 hours to test the PO4 levels. This process should be repeated until the desired PO4 levels are reached.
 
If you dose PO4 and, after 24 hours, neither the NO3 nor the PO4 levels begin to drop, your system may be low in carbon.
