Reef Zlements Nitro+

Nitrate is extremely important for the nutrition of microfauna and corals. When present in sufficient quantities, it promotes "biological filtration" as well as improved coloration and health in corals.

Sufficient amounts of nitrogen are required so that bacteria and other microscopic organisms can assimilate carbon and phosphorus.

As filter systems become more efficient, aquariums with low and very low nutrient levels are becoming increasingly common. These systems are often nitrogen-deficient. If a system is nutrient-poor, this means that “biological filtration” is not functioning as efficiently as it should, and that nutrients such as PO4 are likely to accumulate and become harmful if other forms of filtration are not employed.
 
Reef Zlements Nitro+ supports the growth and reproduction of microorganisms and improves biological filtration by enabling microscopic plankton and bacteria to consume carbon and phosphate. These bacteria can then be removed via mechanical filtration or used as food by other organisms in our aquariums, such as sponges, corals, clams, tunicates, etc.

Reef Zlements Nitro+ is a natural source of NO3 that can be added to the aquarium in a controlled manner to achieve ideal NO3 levels. We recommend using Reef Zlements Nitro+ when the nitrate level is below 5 ppm.

Before dosing Reef Zlements Nitro+, we recommend using reliable and precise nitrate test kits to determine the nitrate level in the aquarium.

10 ml of Reef Zlements Nitro+ increases the NO₃ level in 100 L of aquarium water by ~1 ppm.

Once the nitrate levels have been determined, we recommend increasing the NO3 level by only 1–2 ppm per day by dosing the required amount and waiting 24 hours to test the NO3 levels. This process should be repeated until the desired NO3 levels are reached.
