(Nitrate and Phosphate "Remover")

In order for bacteria and other microscopic organisms to assimilate nitrogen and phosphorus, sufficient amounts of carbon must be present.

As filter systems become increasingly efficient, aquariums with low and extremely low nutrient levels are becoming more common. These systems are often low in carbon. If a system is low in carbon, this means that “biological filtration” is not as efficient as it should be, and that nutrients such as NO3 and PO4 are likely to accumulate and become harmful if other forms of filtration are not employed.
 
Reef Zlements Carbo+ boosts the growth and reproduction rates of microorganisms and improves biological filtration by enabling microscopic plankton and bacteria to consume nitrate and phosphate. These bacteria can then be removed via mechanical filtration or used as food by other organisms in our aquariums, such as sponges, corals, clams, tunicates, etc.
 
Reef Zlements Carbo+ is a natural source of biologically safe carbon and replaces flammable sources such as ethanol or vodka.
 
When you start dosing Reef Zlements Carbo+, we recommend beginning with 1 ml per 100 l daily and increasing the amount as needed up to 3 ml per 100 l daily.

Use reliable test kits to measure NO3 and PO4, because when they are present in the correct ratio (C 106:N 16:P 1), they should gradually drop to the desired levels and eventually to 0 ppm (which is undesirable).

Once NO3 and PO4 have reached the recommended levels, reduce the dosage to ensure that the nutrient levels remain near these values and do not drop to 0 ppm (our recommended levels are NO3 ~5 ppm and PO4 ~0.04 ppm).

If either NO3 or PO4 tends toward 0 ppm while the other value remains above 0 ppm, your system is likely limited by the depleted nutrient; in this case, the available nutrient will either not be reduced or will increase over time. Add Reef Zlements Nitro+ or Phos+ to correct this deficiency and optimize your “biological filtration.”

If you want a system with high nutrient input and high nutrient output, you can continue to dose the maximum daily dose of Reef Zlements Carbo+, but you’ll likely need to add Reef Zlements Nitro+ and Phos+ to ensure the correct nutrient ratio and levels.
