Bali Sand is a very pure limestone consisting of approximately 98% calcium carbonate and some zeolite-like minerals. Due to its composition and very white appearance, it is ideal for marine aquariums. Bali Sand is
well-suited for invertebrates such as anemones, tube worms, and even wrasse, as these animals can burrow into it with ease. This substrate is also readily chewed by gobies. Thanks to its properties, Bali Sand mimics the natural environment of a coral reef, thereby laying the foundation for a well-functioning aquarium. Like coral rubble, Bali Sand is a natural fossil material; however, it is not extracted from the oceans. This substrate is an optimal alternative with beneficial biological effects for all aquarium inhabitants, while also helping to preserve nature.
